Data Science Center at the Research Data Day 2025

As part of the DataNord project, the members of the U Bremen Research Alliance jointly organized the “Research Data Day” (TdF) on 11 June. The Data Science Center also attended the event and participated in the organisation of the Research Data Day 2025.

Under the motto “FAIR future skills”, the “Research Data Day” (TdF) took place at the University of Bremen for the third time this June. The event aimed to foster exchange on the FAIR handling of research data and offered participants the opportunity to acquire practical skills in the field of research data management.

The Research Data Day is organised under the DataNord Project , the interdisciplinary data competence centre for the Bremen region. DataNord offers researchers and students from all disciplines and career stages a wide range of services to enhance their data handling skills throughout the entire data lifecycle.

The program of this year’s Research Data Day included a diverse mix of talks, workshops, and other interactive formats on the topic of FAIR research data. Featured on the agenda, for instance, was an on-campus Data Snack session by DSC Data Scientists Dr. Susanne de Vogel and Sarah Büker. Their presentation “Tupperware Your Data - Keep Your Data Fresh, Organized & Ready to Serve” addressed different hands-on strategies for the sustainable organization of research data.

In addition, the Data Science Center also participated in the so-called DataNord Data Bar in the Glass Hall. The Data Bar gave students and researchers the opportunity to talk to different data experts and ask them questions about data management and FAIR research.

The Research Data Day concluded with an evening event at the Bremen Parliament, which was organized under the theme “Using data together: FAIR solutions for a better society”. The event’s agenda included several speeches on the topic of data literacy and data skills, a panel discussion, as well as the presentation of the Data Champion Award 2025.

With its diverse program, the Research Data Day 2025 fostered interdisciplinary exchange and sparked interesting discussions surrounding the topic of FAIR research data management. The DSC is already looking forward to contributing to next year’s Research Data Day!
