The aim of the DSC is to promote the wide application of innovative data science methods across all faculties of the University of Bremen and to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation. The DSC brings together scientists from all disciplines to facilitate the development of cross-cutting research questions at the interface of theory, methodology, and application. Through this interdisciplinary approach, we explore new fields of application for data science and provide fresh impetus to technological research. Therefore, the DSC maximizes the value and quality of data-driven research and cooperative science at the University of Bremen.

The DSC offers its members methodological support with the implementation of AI-methods, a high-performance IT-infrastructure to run computation-intensive data analyses in research and education, financial support through the DSC Seed Grant as well as an interdisciplinary expert-network to connect with scientists from various fields. In addition, the DSC supports its members in establishing new collaborations and developing data science research projects.
