Welcome to the DSC, Timo and Hannes!

We are happy to welcome two new arrivals at the Data Science Center. As a research associate, Timo will be responsible for managing the infrastructure and IT services of the DSC. Hannes will be completing an internship at the DSC and will support our team with various tasks.

Timo Laudi completed his Bachelor's degree (2018) and Master's degree (2021) in Computer Science at ETH Zürich. During his studies, he focused on machine learning, computer graphics, and computer vision. After graduating, he moved to Bremen, where he worked until 2025 as a software engineer in the field of e-commerce at neuland, where he was responsible for developing, maintaining, and deploying complex systems.

From now on, Timo will work as a research associate at the DSC. He will manage the infrastructure and IT services of the DSC and provide support to its users. As part of his doctoral research, Timo focuses on techniques and methods aimed at making artificial intelligence more sustainable and efficient. His research aims to enable decisions during the design-phase which improve energy-efficiency and performance of machine learning models on different hardware platforms. The goal is to make applications more research-efficient from the start, by analysing bottlenecks early on.

Furthermore, we are excited to welcome a new intern to the DSC. Hannes is currently studying political science at the University of Bremen. Under the DataNord Project , he is currently completing a cross-institutional internship that gives him the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of data science.

The first part of his internship, Hannes is spending at the Data Science Center under the guidance of DSC data scientist Dr. Susanne de Vogel. In the coming weeks, he will support our team with different tasks while gaining insights into the diverse activities of the DSC.

The second half of his internship, Hannes will complete as part of Data Train, under the supervision of coordinator Dr. Lina Schaare. Data Train is a training program of the U Bremen Research Alliance (UBRA) that aims to teach interdisciplinary skills in the areas of research data management (RDM) and data science.

We are happy to welcome Timo und Hannes to the team and look forward to working together at the DSC!
