SHORT PROFILE
Bjoern Niehaves has been a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Bremen since October 2022 and leads the research group “Digital Transformation of Public Services” in the Department 3 – Mathematics and Computer Science, with a co-optation in the Department – Business Administration. Concurrently, since November 2022, he has been a member of the Digitalization Advisory Board of Dataport AöR in Kiel and, since April 2023, has been serving as the GovTech Commissioner for the Senator of Finance of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.

Key milestones of his academic career include doctorates in Information Systems (Dr. rer. pol., 2006) and Political Science (Dr. phil., 2009) from the University of Münster, where he also received the venia legendi in Information Systems in 2011. In addition to his research activities, Professor Niehaves advises and supports leading companies and public administrations in various aspects of their digital transformation. Many of his approximately 400 publications have been honored with research and innovation awards.
