SHORT PROFILE
Katharina Burgdorf studied Sociology (B.A. and M.A) at the University of Mannheim, University of Exeter and Columbia University. In 2022 she obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Mannheim. During her Ph.D., she was a DAAD-funded visiting scholar for seven months at the Interdisciplinary Social Science Research Institute (INCITE) at Columbia University in New York. Her research studies social processes in cultural and organizational contexts using digital trace data and computational methods. Most of her work centers around the measurement, analysis, and theorization of new cultural forms and emergent communities, such as artistic movements in cinema.
