The DSC continues nationwide network initiative
Last September, the DSC, together with partner institutions, hosted the first Data-Science-Community Workshop at INFORMATIK 2023. The event laid the foundation for the establishment of a supraregional network between different data-science-initiatives. On January 15, the second community meeting took place, to follow-up on discussions from the workshop and further develop the exchange network.
Together with the Digital Science Center (Kiel University) and the Mannheim Center for Data Science (University of Mannheim), the Data Science Center hosted a workshop at the INFORMATIK 2023 last September. The one-day hybrid event “Aktuelle Entwicklungen und Perspektiven (an Hochschulen) im Bereich Data Science” aimed to foster the exchange between representatives of different data science initiatives and thus lay the foundation for developing a sustainable community network (we report
here ).
The workshop resulted in the collective goal of establishing a nationwide data science network to further promote exchange and cooperations between different institutes and initiatives. To connect the community in a sustained manner, an e-mail list was set up as a first step towards future collaboration. Representatives of data sciences initiatives can register
here .
On January 15, the first follow-up meeting of the data science community took place online. The event was aimed at discussing the further development of the network and exchange ideas regarding future plans and projects. Around 20 representatives of various data science initiatives from all over Germany and Austria took part in the community meeting.
To further promote the networking between data science initiatives, more events have already been planned. The next
Community-Meetup is going to take place at INFORMATIK 2024 in Wiesbaden next September. A proposal for another data science workshop at the conference has already been submitted. More information on the INFORMATIK FESTIVAL 2024 can be found
