Welcome to the DSC, Heike!
As a new Data Steward, Heike will from now on support scientists in the field of social sciences and humanities with the management of research data.
Heike Thöricht received her pre-diploma is sociology at the University of Bamberg in 2005, followed by a diploma in sociology at the University of Hamburg in 2008. Subsequently, she worked as a Consultant and Consumer Insight Manager. During that time, she also engaged with data-driven projects and topics from the field of social sciences. Before Heike joined the DSC, she worked at the University of Innsbruck where she was involved in a variety of research data management (RDM) initiatives such as “e-Infrastructures Austria Plus”, “Austrian Data Lab and Services” and “FAIR Data Austria”. There she contributed to work packages focused on topics like data life cycles, RDM-policies, data repositories, data management plans and data trainings. Since March 2020 she also worked as a coordinator and adviser for digital research services, supporting scientists with RDM topics and developing systems and tools for researchers.
From now on Heike will work as one of three Data Stewards who have joined the DSC this summer. Together they will support researchers from the University of Bremen and the U Bremen Research Alliance Institutes with implementing the FAIR principles. Here, Heike’s focus will lie on social sciences and humanities. Her tasks will include activities such as providing specialist advice to scientists and assisting them with the handling of research data, planning and conducting targeted Data Literacy Trainings as well as developing efficient data management processes.
